JAKE IMPASTATO
Jake started powerlifting when he was eleven-years old in his family garage with no air and no heat. There was just a fan, concrete floors and rusty weights. He trained against his mother’s wishes, although she became his biggest fan and was a regular at all his meets. He competed in his first powerlifting meet at the age of fourteen and continued throughout high school in weight classes ranging from 148lbs to 181lbs.
Jake won four consecutive high school regional championships and two high school state championships, one at 165lbs and the other at 181lbs. He was also a USPF Teen National Champion at fifteen.
In 2005, Jake won the USAPL Louisiana State Championship and Best Lifter in the Men’s Open Heavyweight Division at 198lbs and set a new Louisiana State bench press record. In 2007, he placed second in the 220lbs class at 100% Raw Worlds in Melbourne, Florida. Jake is most proud of his recent win in the 2008 USAPL Raw Nationals in the 220lb class which earned him a spot to compete in the 2009 Arnold Classic Raw Challenge.
Jake’s life has always revolved around powerlifting and weight training and so it was only logical that he would become a personal trainer. At nineteen he started personal training and today continues to help his clients reach their fitness goals. Jake and his training partner, Erik Frank, started RAW504 in an effort to promote raw powerlifting. RAW504 allows Jake to use his lifelong experience in powerlifting as a coach to help his team members achieve their personal powerlifting goals. Even though Jake competes at a national level, he still enjoys giving back to the sport that’s been so good to him.
Jake was born on January 23, 1975 in New Orleans, Louisiana where he plans to remain a life long resident (unless there’s another hurricane like Katrina). When he’s not lifting, he enjoys spending time at his fishing camp in Venice, Louisiana and tournament bass fishing.
